HI All,
A magnificent victory by the HNCC Cape Physio Women’s side on the weekend as they beat NOBM in the final of the T20 Championship to claim the silverware. After batting first captain Sophie Pyott showed the way with an excellent 69 off only 55 deliveries as the team reached a very good total of 111/7 at Anderson Park with the long boundaries and slow outfield. NOBM never really looked like threatening and they needed 18 off the last over to win but Flora Devonshire ( 2 – 19) was too skillful and they finished 14 runs short as the bowling unit did a fantastic job. Excellent effort girls with some great performances over the weeks culminating in an exciting win, so congratulations to Sophie and the team and thanks to Meg and Geoff Pyott for helping out with the team every week.
The HNCC Reynard Seniors finished the season on a high as they comfortably beat St Johns at Anderson Park on Saturday. Batting first a brilliant partnership of 82 between former prem player Ben Fair (53) and Dan Priest (28) provided the perfect platform as captain Alex Cotter (42) chimed in as they reached 199 off the 45 overs. This proved a step too far for the schoolboys as they succumbed for 141 with Josh Lawson (2 – 35), Josh Reed (2 -18) and JK (2 – 14) all collected wickets. Nice way to finish lads as we finished 4th on the table but let’s aim to finally win the Senior division next season.
The HNCC Reynard Division 2 side had another solid victory thanks mainly to veteran Andy Reeves (38no) and Zac Burlace (46) as they put on 52 for the 8th wicket after being 53 - 7, so to reach 144 was a decent effort. NOBM in reply were threatening at 80 odd for 5 but fell away badly as the wily Reevsy backed up his batting by snatching 3 – 4 after son Guy had done some early damage with 2 – 19 to win by 65 runs. Great to have another win guys but hopefully Andy doesn’t have to bail you out every week!
The Parker Earthmover 3rds faced a tough road trip to CHB and came up a little short unfortunately. Batting first only G Grant Smith with 44 provided any real substance as we reached 98 off 23 odd overs. CHB went hard and despite some late wickets they got there 7 down. Keep working hard guys I know the wins are just around the corner.
